The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL)



This is to inform the entire University Community that the Library has secured a grant from the Mann Library, Cornell University, USA, for the installation of The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL) in the University of Abuja Library. TEEAL is an offline full-text and searchable database of articles from more than 350 high-quality research journals in agriculture and the related sciences from 1993 – 2014.
The TEEAL was already delivered to the Library and has been installed. Also, a training on how to use the TEEAL and other electronic resources is coming in the first week of November. 
Once more, The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL) is a digital library for excellence in agricultural research and education.
It contains current agricultural research with access to hundreds of essential agricultural journals without internet connection.
Full-text articles can be downloaded, saved or printed in the following subject areas:

i. Agricultural Engineering

ii. Agriculture

iii. Animal Science / Veterinary Medicine

iv. Biology / Genetics

v. Biotechnology / Applied Microbiology

vi. Chemistry / Biochemistry / Biophysics

vii. Economic / Social Sciences / Development

WEST AND CENTRAL AFRICAN RESEARCH AND EDUCATION NETWORK

The University Librarian and some library staff attended the WACREN workshop at NUC on Wednesday 5th October 2016.
The workshop was aimed at reducing the cost of access to databases through a consortium among the Nigerian  Universities.

Training of University of Abuja Library Staff

 Today, our resource person - Helen Nneka Okpala , a Librarian at University of Nigeria Nsukka, is taking the library staff on how to use social media like Facebook, Twitter, Blogs to reach out to our library patrons. More to that, the library staff are being taught how to make use of reference management systems to create researcher profiles and collaborate in addition to reference management.

THE CHAIRMAN, GOVERNING COUNCIL, UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA, CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY

The Chairman, Governing Council, University of Abuja,  Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia Celebrated his 84th Birthday  on Saturday September 17th, 2016. 
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Umale Adikwu, The Registrar, Mrs. Rifkatu H. Swanta, the University Librarian, Dr R. I. Echezona and other dignitaries from the University attended the occasion

University of Abuja Library Staff Training





The University Librarian, Dr. R. I. Echezona encouraged her staff during the recently concluded workshop, to take the workshop like 'business as business' rather than 'business as usual'. The library training was held on May 3-6, 2016. The facilitators handled topics on 'blogging in libraries; digitization in theory and practice; Institutional Repository Using Dspace; Information Literacy; Personal Information Management, etc'.
